Six criteria were used to evaluate the islands that included environmental and ecological quality, social and cultural integrity, condition of historic buildings and sites, aesthetic appeal, quality of tourism management and outlook for future.
The micro-world and the insularity present in the islands make it a great destination. The grading system was divided into four grades with ‘Best Rated’, ‘Doing Well’, ‘In the Balance’ and ‘In Trouble’.
