Meet Artist Wouter Boon and his amazing Artworks

1) Tell us about yourself?
1: Hi there My Name is Wouter Boon, but I’m better know as ‘Woeti’. I’m a self taught artist from the Netherlands. I make pencilportraits since 2014, so around that time I was 14 years old. Now, almost 2 years later, I make portraits for people all over the world. I’ve also made some commissioned pieces for Dutch celebrities, which resulted into a great friendship! I like making portraits, because every face is different. When I make a portrait, I mostly stare at a picture hours long, which is quite obvious if you make portraits, but when I think I know his or her face, there will always be that one thing I haven’t seen before. Sometimes it still feels I’m living a dream. Because it all happened so fast, sometimes I forget it only began 2 years ago.
2) Where are you located?
I live In Hollland, in the city Haarlem, nearby Amsterdam. I don’t have any kind of studio, just my desk at my bedroom. I don’t need more than that.

3) How did you get started?
in 2014 we needed to draw a full body for art class at school. My teacher told me I made one of the best out of all the classes. She said I needed to improve myself a bit, and practice at home. So I did. I also had an other artist on my school which was 2 years older than me. Maybe you know her (lynn Spoor). She was and is my inspiration, in many ways. She and my school teacher triggered me to start making pencilportraits. They helped me so much through this journey. Learning how to handle the media, but also with different techniques to draw. But it all started for me last year around october. A Dutch youtuber posted my drawing on Instagram, and many things followed. After he posted the picture, I gained so much followers on social media. I think 2015 has been the best year so far if you look how much recognitionI I’ve have got of all the people. Suddenly, almost everyone knew me at my school, which is a weird experience when you’re only 15 years old. After that moment, I knew I wanted to do something artistic as a future job.
4) Show us a picture of your tools!
my materials picture: in the left corner i have my graphite pencils form faber-castell, above i have myfaber-castell polychromos, also on the right of the graphite pencils. in the middle I have my Albrecht Dürer pencils. at the right I got my rembrandt crayons(pastel) and also a mechanic pencil 0,5 mm of faber castell.
5) How do we get in touch with you?
I don’t sell the portraits I post on social media, but you could mail me to get a custom portrait, it doesn’t matter how many people you would like to get portrayed, and it also doesn’t matter who it is. You can get in touch with me by mailing me on my website.
6)  What is your advice to aspiring artists?
First of all, never quit! If you quit it means you actually give up your dream, or you think you can’t reach the level you want. also, don’t copy someone else’s style, art is all about being creative and unique.
